It is my great honor to have the opportunity to serve as the President of the Japanese Society of Cryobiology and Cryotechnology. I took over the position from our esteemed former president Keisuke Edashige at the 70th JSCC Annual Meeting, which was held in May, 2025.
JSCC was established in 1959 as the Japanese Society for Research of Freezing and Drying (JSRFD) and has been developed as a platform for researchers with diverse background and expertise, to share the recent topics, ideas, and experimental outcomes regarding cryobiology and technology. The fields of study include physics, chemistry, biology, biochemistry, agriculture, medicine, pharmacy, and mechanical engineering, and the JSCC annual meetings have provided the opportunity for researchers in various fields to exchange information and for all attendants to launch collaborations for creation of new research projects.
JSCC publishes the academic journal “Cryobiology and Cryotechnology” twice a year featuring original papers, research reviews and research reports, all of which are peer-reviewed by experts before acceptance for publication. The journal articles are now distributed world-wide through the J-STAGE platform for open access downloading, and we are pleased to share academic and technological achievements by researchers belonging to JSCC.
We hope that activities of our society will continue to help researchers present their excellent achievements and obtain new ideas for their future researches. We appreciate the continued support and cooperation by society members for further development and advancement in the research field of cryobiology and cryotechnology.
