A. Group for supporting researchers by providing biological resources from a cohort study

A-1. Support by providing biological resources and data from a cohort study in a general population

Overview

We offer research support using biospecimens, data, etc. collected in the baseline survey for the J-MICC study. From 2005 to 2014, we administered questionnaires on lifestyle habits and other items and collected blood from healthy subjects from the general population across Japan. These subjects form the cohort used in our study. The cohort is still being followed. Our support includes samples from approximately 90,000 individuals and genetic polymorphism data from around 14,000 individuals.

Under the terms of the informed consent documents signed by study participants, this research support program is considered collaborative research with the J-MICC Study. If an applicant's study requires only data in our possession, our support will be data-based. If many applications are received for samples of subjects with specific conditions, successful applicants will be determined after review by this research group's internal committee.

A-1-1. Support by providing biospecimens as controls for case-control studies

We will supply biospecimens from a general population with no history of cancer or death for 5 years or more since the beginning of follow-up.
To facilitate our examination of applications for support, potential applicants are encouraged to use the inquiry form to ask questions in advance about their requests, such as conditions for selecting subjects, phenotype items necessary for analysis, and size and period of study.

A-1-2. Support for analysis of association between genotypes and phenotypes such as blood test data

We will provide genetic polymorphism data (typing data for GWAS in which 0.5 million SNPs and 6 million SNPs have been typed and inputed, respectively) and phenotype data for approximately 14,000 individuals. We can also provide various data by extracting specific SNPs based on the rs numbers of the SNPs requested by the applicant. If you have any questions or requests, please feel free to contact us using the inquiry form.

A-1-3. Other Information

We may provide support to studies using biospecimens and/or data from our cohort for research purposes other than those described in A-1-1 and A-1-2 above. Please feel free to contact us using the inquiry form.

Samples to be provided through our support

Biospecimens and data to be used by us to support research are as follows: They were all collected in the baseline survey for the J-MICC Study (https://jmicc.com/).

Biospecimens (approximately 90,000 individuals):

Blood plasma and serum, DNA

Data:

Questionnaire survey data (including lifestyle habits, past medical history, drug compliance, etc., on approximately 90,000 individuals), genetic polymorphism data (typing data for GWAS, in which 0.5 million SNPs and 6 million SNPs have been typed and imputed respectively [on approximately 14,000 individuals])

Applications for Support, Inquiries

Applicants for support must complete and submit the support application form. Applicants will then be contacted by our office coordinator via email and will be informed of the next steps in the process. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
