Group for supporting researches using bioresources from cohort studies

Support by providing biological resources and data from a cohort study in a general population.

Outline

We provide support for researches using biospecimens and data that have been collected at baseline survey of J-MICC Study. (http://www.jmicc.com/) J-MICC Study is a cohort study conducted between 2005 and 2014 in that we asked individuals as a general healthy control group to fill in the questionnaires on their lifestyles etc. and to collect blood samples. We have been conducting the follow-up surveys. Our support includes providing about biospecimens of 90,000 individuals and data on single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) of 4,500 individuals.

According to the provisions that we obtained the informed consent from individuals participated in the research, our support is regarded as a collaborative research with J-MICC Study. If our reserved data fully cover the research, we will provide the information based on the database. If we receive many requests on samples with specific conditions, we will examine the request at the Internal Committee to decide we can support the research.

1. Support for providing the biospecimen as a control group in a case-control study We provide biospecimen of a general group that does not recognize cancer or death after five years since the start of the follow-up survey.
We would like to have their requests such as sample conditions of the subjects of the survey, phenotype items required for the analysis, research scale, the term and other index. Please contact us from the request form that will help the screening procedure faster.
2. Support for providing the biospecimen from the incident case for the early cancer diagnosis marker accuracy verification. We provide the biospecimens of cancer incidence case (appear symptoms one year or more and less than five years after starting the follow-up survey). If required, we can exclude the multiple primary cancer case.
Due to the limited number of the samples according to the cancer part which satisfy the conditions, please make sure that the markers have already been recognized to obtain a certain level of sensitivity and specificity tested with clinical samples.
3. Support relating to analysis of the genotype and the phenotype including blood test data

We provide 4,500 individuals (302 types) of genotype and phenotype data. Please refer to the website(http://www.jmicc.com/snpstudy/) for details. Please contact us from the contact form of the website in the first place.

4. Others Please feel free to contact us from the contact form even though their research purpose is not stated 1 to 3 above. It is possible that we are able to help their research with our platform’s support programs using the biospecimen and data.

Samples for the support

Followings are the biospecimens and data used for our research support. All resources are collected as the baseline survey conducted by J-MICC Study. (http://www.jmicc.com/

Biospecimens (about 90,000 individuals): blood plasma, blood serum, DNA
Data

a questionnaire and a survey data (lifestyle, anamnesis, medication history and others, and a data on single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs): 302 types, about 4,500 individuals.

Support for constructing and utilizing brain resources

Outline

We constructed Japanese Brain Bank Network for Neuroscience Research funded by Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research on Innovative Areas, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of Japan. We have three principles: open resources, register system for the brain bank during the lifetime, and quality control of the resources to provide them to the researchers. The main aim is to provide postmortem brain tissue to mechanistic research.

Support for a mass biodata analysis

Outline

Support Group for a mass biodata analysis support analysis using biospecimen for mainly genome cohort study. Specifically, we conduct filtering and imputation of DNA microarray data, data analysis using the Next Generation Sequencers, and the related analysis such as GWAS and analysis on Gene-Environment Interaction.

We will examine the application form through the document selection or interview in case we receive a large number of applications for the analysis support.
