About us

Division of Mucosal Barriology, International R&D Center for Mucosal Vaccines at IMSUT was established in 2012. “Barriology” is newly emerging research field defined by Dr. Shoichiro Tsukita as the science of barriers in multicellular organisms. Given that barrier dysfunction has been associated with various diseases including IBD, the integrity of mucosal barrier may ensure gut immune homeostasis. The goal of our study is to understand the biological significance as well as the molecular machinery of barrier on the mucosal surface.
