In May 2023, Kanazawa University started the Sapiens Life Sciences, Evolution and Medicine Research Center. By integrating ancient human genome research, data science research, and medical and life science research in our university, this center aims to elucidate the molecular mechanisms and biological processes of human evolution and various diseases, and to establish new innovative medical treatment.
センターについてバナーAbout Us
At Kanazawa University, we are performing archaeological research such as genetic analyses using ancient human bone samples obtained from ruins around the world. We are also conducting various medical and biological research to elucidate the molecular mechanisms that have caused the evolution of the brain. This is because the brain has developed remarkably in the evolutionary history leading up to modern humans. By combining these archaeological and medical research, this center will elucidate the mechanisms underlying evolution from ancient to modern humans and the pathophysiology of various modern diseases.
