Call for Abstracts

Important

If you have “Alphabet only” error in the abstract filed while registration, please try followings.

  1. “ ‘ ”(apostrophe), “ - ”(hyphen) need to be retyped in the field since it could be in 2-byte character after copy and paste from Word. This system does not accept 2-byte characters.
  2. Some characters need to be replaced in the designated style.
    e.g.) “<” is replaced by “&lt;”
            “±” is replace by “&plusmn;”
            “°” is replaced by “&deg;”

If you cannot still register your abstract after you have done the two above, please send your abstract in Word to the secretariat (ips-jps2018@congre.co.jp).

Abstract Submission Period

*  Please be noted that figures/tables need to be submitted via email by the date above as well.
Before sending figures/tables, kindly be advised ;
  1. Make sure you submit up to 2 figures/tables for your abstract.
  2. Captions of figures/tables are required to be short as one-line.

Submission Guidelines

  • One of the authors must be a member of the International Perimetric Society.
    -Membership application/dues payment details are available at: www.perimetry.org.
  • The abstract text should not exceed 2,400 printable characters, and its layout should be per sections: “Purpose”, “Materials and methods”, “Results” and “Conclusions”.
  • Abstracts should be submitted by using the online form available at the bottom of this page.
  • Authors are responsible for verifying that all information sent is correct, as it will be reproduced exactly as submitted.
  • Please keep your Registration number and Password notified via email of the acknowledgement of receipt. You need them to edit, correct, or delete your abstract while the submission period.

Acknowledgement and Notification

  • Abstract submissions will be acknowledged via email. If you do not receive the acknowledgement of receipt, kindly inform the secretariat (ips-jps2018@congre.co.jp). Please note that acknowledgment of receipt does not imply acceptance.
  • Oral and poster presentations will be selected from the submitted abstracts. Please note that poster presenters will be allotted 3 minutes to present posters, followed by 5 minutes for discussion, and also will be required to bring printed posters to mount.
  • All submissions will be reviewed by the program committee and applicants will be notified of acceptance around the beginning of March, 2018.
  • All presenters of accepted abstracts will be required to register for the conference.
  • All accepted abstracts will be placed on this site.

Conflict of Interest (COI)

IPS2018 requires the authors to report the conflict of interest when submitting your abstracts. Additionally, if your abstract is accepted, the category of conflict of interest and the names of the companies must be disclosed in the presentation slide and poster.

A. Presentations to Which These Rules are Applicable

These rules are applicable to all presentations including those in Sponsored Seminars.

B. Reports on Conflict of Interest in the Abstract Submission Form

The authors have to report on the conflict of interest with companies within the last three years no matter whether it's concerned with or without the content of your presentation. In the abstract submission form, please type in the category and the class below with the names of the companies in the fields of "Report on Conflict of Interest".

Categories and classes are as follows.

1.Category

F (Financial Support):

In the case where research expenses are supported or free research materials (including devices) or services (including sample measurements) are provided by companies (*) through the organization to which the author belongs.
(*) Companies denote both related companies and competitor companies. This is also the case for all subsequent categories.

I (Personal Financial Interest):

In the case where the author is an investor in a company related to the chemicals and materials (including devices).

E (Employee):

In the case where the author is an employee of an interested company

C (Consultant):

In the case where the author is currently, or was within the past three years, a consultant of an interested company

P (Patent):

In the case where the author holds a patent or is in the process of applying for a patent

R:

In the case where the author receives rewards (*) or travel expenses from a company related to the chemicals and materials (including devices) used and services provided.
(*) Rewards include salaries, travel fees, intellectual property rights, royalties, honoraria, shares, stock options, consultancy fees, lecture fees, expenses as a member of advisory committees and review panels, etc.

2.Class

I. 0 JPY
II. From 1 to less than 500,000 JPY
III. From 500,000 to 5,000,000 JPY
IV. Over 5,000,000 JPY

*Conflict of interest should be disclosed for the fiscal year during the previous three years when the author received the largest sum of money.

C. Disclosure in the Abstract and Slide

1. Abstract:

Based on the your report on submission, conflict of interest to be disclosed for the author (including co-authors) will be added at the end of the abstract by Secretariat of IPS2018. For categories F, C and R, only class IV (over 5,000,000 JPY) needs to be disclosed. Category and the names of the companies will not be addressed in the abstract.

2. Slide and poster:

When the authors discloses the conflict of interest in the presentation, the category and the names of the companies should be shown after the authors' names in the second slid or at the end of poster. (For category P, the names of the companies need not to be mentioned). For categories F, C and R, only class IV (over 5,000,000 yen) should be disclosed.
If none of the authors has any conflict of interest to be disclosed, please write "there is no conflict of interest to be disclosed".

Ethics Committee Approval

The authors are required to report on whether they have obtained an approval of the ethics committee, e.g. IRB, or if it is not applicable in the submission form.  This does not need to be stated in the abstract text.

Informed Consent

The authors are required to report on whether they have obtained an informed consent or if it is not applicable in the submission form. This does not need to be stated in the abstract text.
