Bird Watching at Tåkern
(1)
June 2001
Tåkern is a lake near Vättern, located approximately 200
km southwest to Stockholm. This place is known for one of the best
place for bird watching in Sweden. Actually, Tåkern appeared in
the famous story "The Wonderful Journey of Nils Holgelson" by Selma
Lagerlöf as a birds' paradise. Still nowadays, various kind of
birds can be seen at Tåkern and it is protected as a national
park. It was early June when I visited Tåker, however in Autumn
morning, I read it is possible to watch "the Big Take
Off".
