- The Japanese Cleft Palate Study Group was established. The Japanese Cleft Palate Speech Therapy Forum (established in 1961) was merged into the Study Group. Annual scientific meetings were held until June 1976.

- The Preparatory Committee for establishing an association was set up.
- June 1976
- The Japanese Cleft Palate Association (JCPA) was established. The JCPA's constitution and by-laws were drawn up. At the time, the JCPA had 293 members.
The JCPA's office was located within the First Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, School of Dentistry, Osaka University. - August 1976
- The Editorial Committee was established.
- December 1976
- The first issue of the Journal of Japanese Cleft Palate Association (vol. 1) was published.
- April 1977
- The first Annual Meeting of the JCPA was held in Tokyo.
- November 1977
- The JCPA was registered and approved as an academic association by the Science Council of Japan.
- May 1978
- The JCPA received an academic journal designation from the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications.
- July 1979
- The Academic Subcommittee was established. The Subcommittee initiated activities regarding literature collection, standardization of cleft palate classification, assessment criteria for cleft-palate speech, and social insurance.
- January 1983
- The office was moved to the Second Department of Dentistry and Oral Surgery, Tokyo Dental College.
- December 1983
- The Academic Subcommittee reported the standardization of cleft palate classification in the journal:

- The Academic Survey Committee and the Information Technology Committee were established.

- The Distinguished Paper Awards Committee and the Distinguished Poster Awards Committee were established.

- The Cleft Lip/Cleft Palate Handbook was published.

- The Japancleft Committee was established.

- A nationwide survey on the current situation of team care for patients with cleft lip/cleft palate was initiated.

- The limited liability intermediate corporation, the Japanese Cleft Palate Association (JCPA) was established.

- The JCPA was transformed into the Japanese Cleft Palate Association, a general incorporated association, following legal reforms.

- The Committee for Practice Guidelines was established.

- 15th International Congress of Cleft Lip and Palate and Related Craniofacial Anomalies Kyoto was decided to be held in October in 2025.
