The SUN never goes down in the Arctic region for some period around Midsummer day.

This photo was taken on June 27th, 1999. In this time, the sun is moving from left to right in the very low sky near the horizon. It is in the high place of Southern sky around midday and is very bright, however the sun is in the very low place of Northern sky around this hour, making some special atmosphere, neither of the sunset and the sunrise.

You will understand it very well after a few days stay in Arctica that the sun goes around yourself once in 24 hours. It was in 1997 when I first experienced this, however I can not forget how much moved I was at that time.

The Midnight sun, and the magnificent landscape with it, is something only for those people who live here despite of the tough nature and those who traveled a very long way to visit. However, it is quite recommendable to recognize the possibility of bad weather and to avoid tight schedule, if you visit Arctic region to see the Midnight Sun.

Note: * The "o" in the name of the place "Sto" is a "o" with a "/" like .
