Life in Sweden
No. 19 Lucia cerebration
2000/12/31
In December, the sun is above the horizon just only for six hours per
day here. At Stockholm, the Sunrise is 8:37 AM, and the Sunset is
2:47 PM on December 13; the day for Lucia cerebration. Originally,
Lucia is a saint of Italy, however Lucia cerebration here also means
the turning point of midwinter, longing for the sunshine to come
back. In this day, a girl with blond hair put candles on the head,
march around, and sing songs. The procession also took place at
Karolinska Institute. Here I show some pictures.
