PubMed is an experimental service of the National Center for Biotechnology Information(NCBI) at the National Library of Medicine (NLM). PubMed has been developed in conjunction with publishers of biomedical literature as a search tool for accessing literature citationsÁÁand linking to their full-text versions at publishers' Web sites. PubMed searches the 9 million citations in MEDLINE supplemented by pre-Medline citations which do not yet have MeSH index terms and by citations supplied electronically by publishers.
Internet Grateful Med (IGM) searches MEDLINE using the retrieval engine of NLM's PubMed system. The default MEDLINE search is 1966 to the present and includes PREMEDLINE. This version of IGM takes advantage of PubMed's ability to display Related Articles and link to the full text of participating online journals. Specific information on new features is available.
Medscape is the leading medical site on the Web for physicians, other healthcare professionals, and consumers. "The Web is revolutionizing access to healthcare information, and Medscape has set the standard of excellence in the medium," says Dr. Lundberg. "I am joining a team that is as passionate and dedicated as I am about improving healthcare by providing the highest quality information possible. Medscape's authoritative Web site and its talented team of editors and executives were the critical factors in my decision."
