Dear Friends and Colleagues

It is our pleasure to announce the 49th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society of Pediatric Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery (JSPCCS) to be held in Tokyo in 2013.

SPCCS has 2700 members and we expect more than 1600 participants. We have invited many foreign faculties from all over the world. We have joint meetings with Association of European Pediatric Cardiology (AEPC) and American Heart Association (AHA) council of Cardiovascular Disease of the Young (CVDY), and Asian Pacific Pediatric Cardiology Society (APPCS). We welcome delegates from these societies. Although main language is Japanese, there are many English sessions throughout the meeting.. We are sure that the meeting gives you an excellent opportunity to share up to date knowledge and experiences with colleagues from across the world in all aspects of management of CHD.

A main theme of the meeting is “Life-long care of patients with congenital heart diseases -more aggressively, with more cooperation, for children-”.

The youngest patients we see are fetus for clinician, and embryo for basic scientists. The oldest patients are 80s or 90s. At whichever age of patients we see, we need to know natural history, unnatural history and long-term results of interventions. In the meeting, we would like to spend more time than usual to discuss about natural history, unnatural history and long-term results of interventions for congenital heart disease (CHD). We hope to have presentations based on the long-term experience of an institution or on the multi-center study. We also have organized symposium and lectures of fetal cardiology, neonatal cardiology, adult cardiology, catheter interventions, and surgery, from the point of view of life-long care.

Tokyo is an international city, awake 24 hours a day. You can enjoy many kinds of food: good beef, good seafood, good beer, and good wines. You can enjoy restaurants at high-rise tower or at seaside. The venue for the meeting is the National Olympic Memorial Youth Center, which is close to Shinjuku area, where you can enjoy music and beer after the meeting.

There are many hotels in Shinjuku area. In the National Olympic Memorial Youth Center, there is an accommodation, where you can stay with reasonable price. We advise to make reservations as soon as possible if you would like to stay there.

We look forward to welcoming you to Tokyo in 2013.
