Welcome Message to Hiroshima Symposium 2014

Dear Colleagues,

It is a great honor and privilege for me to organize this meeting and for my colleagues at the Department of Neurosurgery Hiroshima University. As Meeting President, I will organize the 4th Japan-Russia Neurosurgical Symposium (4th JRNS) to be held on October 12-14, 2014 at the Grand Prince Hotel Hiroshima.

The first Meeting of this symposium was held in St. Petersburg in 2008 organized by Professor Bersnev, the second in Fujiyoshida by Professor Hori in 2010, and the third in Novosibirsk by Professor Krivoshapkin in 2012 as Presidents, respectively. Professor Emeritus Kintomo Takakura and Honorary Professor Takeshi Kawase were Honorary Presidents of the 2nd JRNS. At the 2nd JRNS, I was appointed as the President of the 4th JRNS.

Recently, the relationship between Japan and Russia has progressed well, and now a friendship exists between the two nations is highly respected to develop in various fields. Moreover, developments in neurosurgery in Russia, encouraged by a strong economy, are increasingly recognized. The 2nd JRNS was held just after Japanese Congress of Neurosurgery in spring in Fujiyoshida and it was a great success.

The 4th JRNS will be held in Hiroshima just after the 73rd Annual Meeting of Japan Neurosurgical Society organized by Professor Hajime Arai in Tokyo. We are confident that the location in Hiroshima will be attractive to delegates from both Russia and Japan. The wonderful view of Seto Inland Sea and close to two World Heritage sites, A-Bomb Dome and Miyajima are popular sightseeing spots to be appreciated by delegates and guests.

The main theme of the 4th JRNS will be “Mutual Cooperation in the Field of Neurosurgery between Japan and Russia.” Of course, all issues in neurosurgery and related fields will be accepted.

The next day just after the 73rd Annual Meeting of Japan Neurosurgical Society, the 4th JRNS will start on October 12. The second day of the 4th JRNS on October 13 will fall a Japanese national holiday. As many participants may be able to enjoy an autumn day in Hiroshima.

Speaking as President, the 4th JRNS and on behalf of members of affiliate hospitals belong to the Department of Neurosurgery Hiroshima University, I am confident that this event will make most positive contributions to the continued development of friendly relations and cooperation in the fields of medicine and service.

Finally, I look forward to the support and cooperation from the related doctors, persons and organizations to make the Hiroshima Symposium 2014 a memorable and beneficial one.

Sincerely,
