The two main international airports in Japan are
the New Tokyo International Airport (Narita Airport)
and Kansai International Airport (Osaka),
both of which offer access to most major cities in the world.
Participants will travel to Hakone using the Bullet Train and local transport.
The Bullet Train, "Shinkansen", is one of the fastest express trains in the world.
The nearest station to the Hakone Prince Hotel is Odawara Station.
Free shuttle buses are available between Odawara Station and the Hakone Prince Hotel.

From Narita Airport to Odawara Station
- When you arrive at Narita Airport, go down to the Narita Airport Station
(basement of Terminal 1) or Airport Terminal 2 Station (basement of Terminal 2).
At the JR (Japan Railways Company) ticket office,
purchase tickets to Odawara (6,790 yen for 2nd class reserved seats).
- Take JR's "Narita Express" train to Tokyo station (approx. 60 min.).
The "Narita Express" leaves approximately every 30 to 60 minutes
from 07:43 to 21:43 (as of October 2001).
- Upon arrival at Tokyo Station, go up to the Bullet Train (Shinkansen)
tracks (Tracks 14 - 19).
- Take the "KODAMA" Shinkansen (2 trains per hour).
Be sure to catch a "KODAMA" train.
- Get off at the 2nd stop, Odawara (approx. 40 min.).
- If you wish to take a shuttle bus or taxi, go to the station's West Exit.
If you wish to take a local bus, go to the station's East Exit.
From Kansai International Airport to Odawara Station
- When you arrive at Kansai Airport, go to the Kansai Airport Station,
which is next to the airport terminal building.
At the JR (Japan Railways Company) ticket office,
purchase tickets to Odawara (\14,150 for 2nd class reserved seats).
- Take JR's "Haruka" express train to Shin-Osaka (approx. 50 min.).
- Upon arrival at Shin-Osaka Station, go up to the Bullet Train (Shinkansen) tracks
(Tracks 11 - 18).
- Take a "KODAMA" Shinkansen (one train every hour).
Be sure to catch a "KODAMA" train.
- Get off at Odawara Station (approx. 3 hours 30 min.).
- If you wish to take a shuttle bus or taxi, go to the station's West Exit.
If you wish to take a local bus, go to the station's East Exit.
From Odawara station to the Hakone Prince Hotel
Free shuttle bus
Free shuttle buses will run between the West Exit of Odawara Station
and the Hakone Prince Hotel on November 10, 13, and 14.
The bus ride usually takes 60 - 70 minutes, longer if traffic is heavy.
- From Odawara Station (West Exit) to the Hakone Prince Hotel

Buses will leave from in front of the main entrance of the Main Building.

Local Buses
The local bus ride usually takes 60 - 70 minutes (1,270 yen), longer if
traffic is heavy. Bus services run daily.
- Odawara Station (East Exit) to the Hakone Prince Hotel ("Hakone-en")
At the East Exit of Odawara Station, take a bus bound for "Hakone-en"
(terminal stop).
Buses leave at 9:05, 10:05, 11:05, 12:05, 13:05, 14:05, 15:05, 16:05, and 19:00.
- Hakone Prince Hotel ("Hakone-en") to Odawara Station (East Exit)
Buses leave "Hakone-en" for Odawara Station at 8:45, 10:50, 11:35, 13:15,
14:05, 14:50, 15:35, 15:40, 16:10, 16:35, and 17:30.
Taxi
Take a taxi to the Hakone Prince Hotel;
taxi ride takes 50 minutes/8,000yen - 9,000yen.
The fare will depend on traffic conditions.
